Programme PHARE

In the years 1999-2005 the office of the Euroregion in Nowy Targ has played the role of secretariat for the Small Projects Fund of the Phare Polish-Slovakia Cross-border Cooperation Programme. In the course of five years, 80 small projects have been carried out in the areas of culture, sport, tourism, environmental protection, urban planning and the development of local democracy. The total sum of co-financing awarded these projects is 574.607,54 EUR. Thousands of inhabitants of the borderlands area as well as tourists have taken part in these projects. There have been dozens of meetings, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and conferences and many publications, maps and folders have also been published. Hiking and cycling trails have been laid out and sporting competitions have been organized. Rich and rewarding contacts have been created between schools, local self-governments and cultural institutions.
