History

The Euroregion Tatry Cross-border Cooperation Association was formed on the 26th of August 1994 with the signing of the Contract among Local Self-Governments of Poland and Slovakia for the Establishment of the Euroregion Tatry Cross-border Cooperation Association by representatives of local self-governments of the Polish-Slovak borderlands. The Euroregion Tatry is situated in the areas of Podhale, Spisz, Orava and Liptov, areas which have for many centuries shared similar languages and traditions, and also share the unusual geographic and natural riches of the area. Euroregion Tatry's aim is to create appropriate conditions for the further development of culture, science, tourism, the economy and environmental protection.
